The Sandown Greyhound Racing Club (“SGRC”) is pleased to announce that Kayla Cottrell will be the ambassador for its upcoming feature race series, “The Trilogy”.
The Trilogy comprises the Group 1 Sportsbet Sandown Cup, Group 1 Sportsbet Harrison-Dawson and Group 1 Sportsbet Sapphire Crown, which will all be held on Friday 22 May 2026 at Sandown Park.
Cottrell is one of the greyhound industry’s brightest young stars, having trained her first Group 1 winner at age 18 with Fernando Cazz in the 2021 Group 1 Rookie Rebel.
She also has a strong affiliation with Sandown Park, having won the 2025 Group 2 McKenna Memorial with Fernando Duke, and the 2025 Group 3 Launching Pad with Dashing Slay, who subsequently went on to finish second in the 2025 Group 1 Sportsbet Melbourne Cup.
“I’m very honoured to be selected as the ambassador for The Trilogy,” said Cottrell.
“I’ve grown up in the sport – I love what I do, and I will always support greyhound racing. It’s not so much a job – it’s a lifestyle.”
SGRC Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Scott, is thrilled that Cottrell has come on board as the ambassador for The Trilogy.
“Kayla is a magnificent ambassador for greyhound racing in Victoria, and she holds excellent standing in the industry throughout Australia. We are delighted to have her representing Sandown for The Trilogy.”
